Creative Bookmark : Initial ideas

For the bookmark task i was given the book Catch 22 by Joseph Heller. Firstly i had to gather ideas from the key themes and ideas of the book i did this on a mind map :

On this mind map i thought of the main charcters like Captain Yossarian and the scenes hes featured in. I also considered his job as a bombardier and the many locations the book visits. After all of these consideration i created a few designs. 

This first design in the shape of the plane that he flies which is at the centre of the book. I did not use this design as it seemed to basic and had been done many times before. 

The second design I thought pictured upside down above is the deciding scene of the book where the two charcters Captain Yossarian and Doc Daneeka talk about catch 22 this is the first time it is mentioned and explained in the book. I did not choose this bookmark as it had to much text as the synopsis would also be featured on the bookmark and together they would be too much. The second bookmark featured her is set up with the many settings of the book coming together with a logo at the top. This design  thought was more subtle so i decided to see if it would be better hand drawn in colour.

This book mark was created i thought that this design was childish but i liked the outlined idea and small changes like changing the top logo to look like the ones featured on the side of planes i have also changed the font and have taken out the railway tracks. This overall turned into my final bookmark featured in the next blogpost.
